Wheel Chips And House Chips

In European casinos all players use the same chips or checks, this is the house chips. While in North America, all players use special chips for the roulette game. These special chips are called "wheel chips".

The wheel chips have a specific design or letter embedded on them delegating which table the chips belong to. These wheel chips are restricted to the table from which it was issued and it cannot be used anywhere else inside the casino.

There are 6 to 7 different color groups with 300 chips in each color. Usually, every players seated at the roulette table will have their own chips color to bet with. This will eliminate any confusion on the roulette table. Everyone will easily identify their own chips.

Before you begin betting on the roulette table, ask the dealer if there is a "color" available at the table. You simply can't give the dealer your money, just place your money on the table and the dealer will convert your money into chips.

Players can buy in for whatever amount that they may wish. Just always take into consideration that your buy in is equal or may be greater than the roulette table's minimum bet.

Normally, the wheel chips are piled in an organized manner into stacks of 20. If you wish to bet chips more than $100 they can talk to the bosses available in the pit and let them know if one of them can accommodate your request. No one can bet your wheel chips but you alone.

In North America, chips are moved and cleared by hands and not by rake. Also, the wagers are paid by the dealer by "cutting" the chips after winning. Dealers don't usually count the chips; the dealer will simply pay you with the same height as your chips.

In Europe, dealers pay winners by "running out". This is because French-style chips are more awkward to handle, the bet is spread out from left to right just in front of the dealer and he will count it precisely.

Players are given ample time to make up their mind where they want to place their bet on the roulette layout. After all the players have properly placed their bet the dealer will begin spinning the wheel counter-clockwise and after a split second the dealer will snap the ball clockwise.

Check on the dealer before you place your bet on the layout. Always remember to stack your bet on the roulette layout with the biggest denomination placed at the bottom and the smallest denomination placed on top of the stack. Organize your bets for quicker payoffs.
