Roulette Terminologies

There are a series of numbers in roulette that have special names with them. The special name comes by placing a bet on a series of numbers with a set amount. The basis comes from the way the numbers are positioned next to each other on the wheel but not every casino offers these kinds of bets. Some offers variations of the bets or they add more bets.

Voisins du Zero ("Neighbors of Zero") - This is the term for numbers on the wheel which are located between 22 and 25, including 22 and 25.

22,18,29,7,28,12,35,3,26,0,32,15,19,4,21,2,25, is the series on one zero wheel. There are 9 chips or multiples that a player bets. 2 chips should be placed on the 0, 2, and third street, 1 on the 4/7 split;1 on 18/21, 1 on 12/15 or 19/22 and 2 on 25/26/28/29 corners and one on the 32/35.

The third "Tiers" - This is the name of the numbers which are lying on the wheel's opposite side, positioned between twenty seven and thirty three. 27,13,36,11,30,8,23,10,5,24,16,33, is the series on one zero wheel. The bet has 6 chips or multiples of six.

Variant - A variant is known as the "Tier of 5,8,10 and 11". It consists of an additional chip placed straight up on the series of five, eight, ten and eleven including a bet which consists of 10 chips.

Orphans or Orphelins - These are the numbers that makes up the two halves of the wheel which are located outside the Viosins and the tiers. The Orphans and Orphelins have eight numbers. The Orphans has 17,34 and 6. The Orphelins on the other hand have 1,20,14,31 and 9. A player gives a bet of 5 chips. One chip is placed on one and on each of the split of 6/9. 14/17, 17/20 and 31/34

The Neighbors and the "xx" - This is a number that maybe backed up along with either of the two number on either side of the five piece bet. An example of the "Neighbors and the 0" is the five piece bet with one straight up piece on 3, 0, 26, 32 and 15.

These bets are often place on in as combinations. Like "1, 9 and 14. The neighbors is also a fifteen piece kind of bet which covers 18,22,23,33,16 with just one piece and 9,31,20 and 1 with two pieces and the 14 with three pieces

15 piece bet covering 18, 22, 33, 16 with one piece; 9, 31, 20, 1 with two pieces and 14 with three pieces.

The bets above could be combined. The Neighbors bet is usually assumed by the roulette croupier.
